The Ernest G. Welch School of Art and Design at Georgia State University invites applications for three anticipated regular Full-time Lecturer positions with full benefits. We seek to hire two faculty members in Drawing, Painting, Printmaking/Foundations and one faculty member in Photography to begin August 2011 pending budgetary approval. MFA or equivalent professional experience required. College level teaching experience beyond graduate school preferred.
The Photography candidate must have experience in B&W and color basic to advanced darkroom techniques, digital photography, studio (4x5 and lighting), video, alternative processes, and photo history. The Drawing, Painting, Printmaking/Foundations candidates will teach all levels of undergraduate classes in the Drawing, Painting, Printmaking and all foundations courses including Critical Issues in Contemporary Art.
Please send a cover letter, CV, artist statement, teaching philosophy, 20 examples of your recent creative work, 20 examples of student work, a numbered image list, names and contact information for 3 references. Please have references forward letters immediately. Digital portfolios should be readable on a MAC and a PC. CDs/DVDs should be clearly labeled and contain 2 folders: one folder with images and/or videos of your artworks that are labeled with name, title, media, date, dimensions or duration and one folder with all text files in PDF file format. Images should be in JPEG file format at 150 dpi at 8 inches largest dimension. Videos can be 20 minutes of total view time. Hard copies of text files should be included. Please provide evidence of teaching effectiveness if available. Review of applications begins May 9, 2011. Positions will remain open until filled.
